Located southwest of Austvågøya, Gimsøya is a small island in the archipelago, accessible via the E-10. On this island, it's not civilization that gets in the way. Rather, it's the island's particular relief, very steep on one side and bordered by swamps on the other. The road along the coast around Gimsøya takes you through an idyllic setting well worth deviating from the main axis. At the very north of the island, a small road leads to a lighthouse. Surrounded by fishermen's huts, it guards a harbor shared by a few boats. Further along the road, you'll find a wooden church dating from 1876.
