Covering an area of 171 km², Rago National Park was established in 1971. The most inaccessible of Norway's national parks, it is a tormented ensemble of jagged ridges, deep faults and erratic boulders, from which rivers cascade or rapids down the bare rock. Adjacent to the Swedish national parks of Padjelanta, Sarek and Stora Sjöfallet (on the other side of the border), Rago is part of an immense protected area of 5,700 km². Access is difficult. There are two huts, but few facilities. For further information, visit www.nordlandnasjonalparksenter.no
