In the heart of an agricultural region, Notsé is a double capital, that of pineapples and that of the Ewe people. There are few traces of the kingdom that developed there around the 15th century, but the village of Tado was the center of a culture that spread far beyond its borders. Today it remains a mythical place for many Ewe people, as evidenced each year by their biggest traditional festival, Agbogbo-Za. One can still see a piece of the rampart that surrounded the city as well as a terracotta pavement. Other archaeological sites have been discovered by a doctor of archaeology, Mrs. Aguigah, former Minister of Culture.
