This region is more humid, which makes it the greenest area of Fogo; as a result, coconut palms and eucalyptus trees, as well as many other tropical species, grow in profusion. To the northwest, you find Salinas, a beautiful black sand beach with caves and basaltic organs, frequented by locals, as well as salt flats still virgin. This is why it is one of the few places on the island where you can swim almost safely: the natural pool is protected from the sea by black reefs, cutting into an impressive landscape. A tourist infrastructure project is underway.
