The composer Karl Goldmark, to whom the local museum is dedicated, was born in this almost border village ("German Cross"). Deutschkreutz Castle is now the private property of a famous painter, Anton Lehmden, whose works can be seen in the parish church. Deutschkreutz is famous for its wines. The regional wine library (Hauptstrasse 42-44), housed in a beautifully furnished cellar, offers tastings of the best Blaufränkisch wines from Deutschkreutz, Horitschon, Lutzmannsburg, Neckenmarkt and Unterpetersdorf.
