This little lake has it all. Less well known than Traunsee, more remote than Mondsee for Salzburgers, it enjoys relative tranquility and the same advantages: sumptuous scenery, deep, calm waters, green shores and pure air. No major resorts, but hospitable little villages that welcome fishermen and the occasional tourist. The infrastructure, however, is often minimal. One hotel, a Gasthof here and there, rooms in local homes and little in the way of entertainment. No zouk nights, no karaoke. It's an immersion in nature that you come here for. Boats for hire and water sports.
