Spa town, historical city, gateway to the mountains: the 2,600 inhabitants of this small town are lucky to live in such a natural setting, irrigated with good water. However, this was not always the case: indeed, in the 17th century, terrible inquisitors were rampant here and witches were judged in the sinister castle, and often burned alive after appalling torture. The atmosphere is now more relaxed, and tourists come here in great numbers in summer, especially to visit the castle or to take a spa treatment, as the waters of Velké Losiny are reputed to help with respiratory ailments.
