This town of 25,000 inhabitants is the gateway to the Jeseník Mountains, which are a majestic backdrop to the city, clearly visible when arriving by train. It is the cultural, economic, historical and tourist center of the region. There is a sufficient choice of hotels to explore the surroundings from here and the city is well served by buses and trains from Olomouc on one side or Ostrava on the other. And to make matters worse, Šumperk is a rather pleasant and charming town with its many Renaissance and Baroque buildings. It is a good place to visit the various towns in the Jeseník Mountains.
