The state capital of the same name, founded in 1556 by Captain Diego García de Paredes, moved 7 times before settling definitively in 1572 in the Los Cedros valley. Founded to convert the local Indians, the Cuicas, the city was quickly coveted for its agricultural riches. So even that in 1678, the famous French privateer, leaving his boats in Maracaibo, succeeded in putting the city to a bag. Trujillo is an all-in-one city that extends even over the mountains surrounding it. You can go on to say hello to its 65 000 people. It is also where the highest monument in South America is erected: the Virgin (giant) Peace of the Armistice Monument. One of the nicest towns in the Andes.
