At the very top of the peninsula, at Fanad Head, the beaches are immense and completely empty. They offer long walks, provided you've brought a good windbreaker. There's also a pretty white lighthouse a little to the east of the beaches. At the opposite end of the peninsula, you'll find Ramelton, a town founded in the early 17th century and home to some fine Georgian houses. Finally, in Rathmullan, you can visit the priory founded in the 16th century. Facing the bay, in the silence of the cemetery, the noble ruins of the priory speak of the Carmelite nuns. The beauty of the oratory chapel, now overgrown with vegetation, is well worth a stop.
