Belmullet (population approx. 2,000) is the largest town and one of the gateways to the Mullet peninsula. Despite its location between two bays, in a very wild area (which is a large part of its charm), this small town has plenty to offer visitors: a beautiful white sand beach, water sports such as fishing, surfing or puffin, whale and dolphin watching, and a superb 18-hole golf course, the Carne Golf Links, which opens delightfully onto the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean. There are also a number of good restaurants and pubs.
