Kilkee is a peaceful village at the tip of the peninsula, which comes alive in the summer months. It's the starting point for some very pleasant walks along the cliffs. One of the main attractions is the Pollock Holes, a unique geological formation that is both impressive and... fun! The stones form giant staircases on which you can walk, right up to the very edge of the cliffs. At one point on the coast, within walking distance of the village, the erosion of the stones by the sea has created veritable natural pools, which are a delight for visitors wishing to cool off in the summer months. The water retained in these natural pools heats up and provides a safe swimming environment for even the smallest children. But be sure to check the tide tables, as the pools are only open at low tide! Kilkee has also been awarded the Blue Flag for its beautiful semi-circular beach of fine sand, ideal for swimming, and where you'll find a water sports center. Kilkee is also a popular spot for scuba divers and cyclists looking for a great place to pedal. Also not to be missed is the sublime Loop Head peninsula at the south-western tip of the county, reached by an incredible scenic drive. Finally, in early September, the Cois Faraige music festival brings the village streets to life.
