Very pleasant stop in this city built at the bottom of a narrow fjord (the sea is at about fifteen kilometers), on a hill from which emerges a red brick cathedral, surrounded by paved streets and lined with old houses. The city is very lively in the evening thanks to its numerous cafés. Haderslev was probably founded by the Vikings, at least a century before it became a royal town in 1292. At that time, it became one of the main commercial centers in southern Jutland. In the public park near the city center, the Kløften festival is held, an annual three-day summer festival with many concerts.
