Just 35 kilometers south of Tulcea, Babadag (population 9,000) can be reached via the main road or, better still, via the road along Lake Razim, via Agighiol. The town, with its sizeable Turkish and Tatar minorities, is home to a small museum of oriental art, known as Casa Panaghia, with a fine collection of carpets, embroidery, costumes and vases.
