Situated at an altitude of over 500 metres, this spa town of 4,000 inhabitants has been renowned since the 19th century for its twenty or so springs. As with other resorts in the country, accommodation and spa treatments are plentiful. The surrounding mountains and their highest point, Nemira Mare (1,649 metres), are superb. They are renowned for their beech forests and numerous streams.
