The region, with its mountains, beautiful scenery and spas, can be a stopover between the capital and Bucovina. Onești, a very sad town, is the gateway. You can visit the red-tiled church built by Ștefan cel Mare in 1494. Just to the south, the pretty village of Cașin, on the river of the same name, is renowned for its traditional houses. Its 1655 monastery is well worth a visit. From Onești, you can reach Târgu Secuiesc and Transylvania, via the beautiful Trotuș valley.
