Yuseong is a thermal spring, frequented since the time of the Baekje kings, located 10 km west of Daejeon. The water emerges from the ground at between 42°C and 55°C and contains some sixty minerals (calcium, potassium, etc.). It is said to be effective against skin diseases, diabetes and arthritis. Legend has it that a crane plunged its injured wing into the spring water and was healed. A mother contemplated the scene and took her war-wounded son there. He too was completely healed.
