Woraksan is a large, wild and magnificent national park, less visited than the others. Since 1984, it has been the 17th park to be designated a national park. It includes some of the 8 wonders of Danyang. It offers beautiful walks, but has no famous temples or major tourist sites. If you come here at all, it's to enjoy the scenery and the peace and quiet. It can be reached via several entrances: Worak (the ferry stop to the north-west), Janghoe (another ferry stop to the north-east), Danyang (for the "wonders" to the north-east) and so on.From Worak, you arrive in the Songgye Valley. From here, you can climb Woraksan Peak (1,094 m). Further south lies Mireuksaji. This valley contains the remains of a fortress built under Goryeo, as well as a number of temples, including Deokjusa with its strange phallic stones. This pretty valley is crossed by a road and there are 4 entrances with minbaks and restaurants from which you can set off into the mountains. There are minbaks in the Danyang area, and numerous campsites in the park, but there don't seem to be any huts. A free map called "Chungju-Suanbo" provides a detailed map of the park.
