This medium-sized city of 200,000 souls is best known as the birthplace of Taekkyeon, the Korean martial art that is the ancestor of the world-famous Taekwondo. For amateurs, a festival lasting several days takes place there every year. In Chungju, there are no historical relics or unmissable cultural sites, but very pleasant corners of nature. In fact, it is especially its surroundings that are of interest. A few kilometres to the south-east there is a huge lake where you can take delicious cruises. You can even reach other cities such as Danyang.
