This village is certainly the most representative and one of the best preserved of the traditional Republic of Korea. In harmony with its natural surroundings, between forested mountains, the Nakdong River and agricultural fields, this place reflects Confucian culture: the surrounding landscapes nourish both body and spirit. Far from being an artificial village of sleepy old houses, this is a lively place, where domestic and agricultural activities take their course, somewhat out of time.Among the buildings you can visit, here are the most important: Chyunhyodang, the home of Ryu Seongnyeong; Yangjindang, the most imposing and ancient house of the Ryu clan; Bukchon, a little more recent (1892), and a perfect representation of the homes of the aristocratic nobles of Joseon.The best thing to do is to lose yourself in the pretty alleyways with their cob and thatch-roofed houses, and immerse yourself in this rural village, archetypal of the traditional Korean village.
