Jacksonport is located on the eastern shore of the peninsula, northeast of Sturgeon Bay. It is a tiny village wedged between Highway 57 and the lake, near Cave Point County Park and Whitefish Dunes State Park. These two places offer a preserved natural setting, between sand dunes and limestone cliffs. Jacksonport is also home to the first festival of the year, when hundreds of half-naked swimmers jump into the icy waters of Lake Michigan at noon on January 1. They call it the Polar Bear Swim, and people who don't have any scruples come from far and wide to participate in this event. To get to Jacksonport by car, take Highway 57.
