The picturesque site of what would become the village of Lambton, the gateway to Frontenac National Park, was discovered in 1837 by Alexis Poulin during a hunting trip. His name was given in honour of the English statesman, John Georges Lambton, Earl of Durham and Governor General of Canada in 1838.
