Radium has a population of 1,000 and more than 30 motels: that's how many visitors there are in the area. In addition to the hot springs, the town is known for being on the migration path of many birds (the Pacific Flyway). Kootenay National Park is full of trails, canyons and wildlife. You can hike Marble Canyon and descend to the Paint Pots, where iron minerals color the natural pools red and yellow. At Hector Gorge, we'll stop to look for bighorn sheep on the Mount Wardle side. On the way back down to Radium, we can pass the Sinclair Canyon: 10 km of meandering glacial waters.
