Established in 1958, the Faune Mountain wildlife reserve is located in Divenié district, west of Niari, on the Gabonese border. Its main river is The Bapounou. It is, like the Nyanga reserve, covered with savannah with a clear shrub stratum and forest-galleries. The reserve is still today a space without surveillance and no real conservation policy. Although virgin of every dwelling, the surrounding population, the extension of food crops, poaching threatens the balance of this area over 15 000 hectares. No structure is dedicated to visitor reception.
