Leogane would be a deformation of Yaguana, an Indian village of the Caciquat De on which the famous Princess Anacaona ruled, already mentioned. Leogane and the plain surrounding it today form a prosperous region where sugar cane is always grown.At the time of harvest, the horse teams mingle with road traffic, making driving picturesque. A road parallel to the national 2 crosses the cane fields. We can see small factories producing either brown sugar (rapadou) or canne juice that will become clairin or rum.
