In the 1960 s, François Duvalier wanted to make this town a modern city that would demonstrate its builders'spirit with tourists. He modestly baptized her Duvalierville. Today Cabaret has regained its name and only a few buildings recall the dictator's dream. Among them are the Eperon d'Or, giant gaguère, visible from the national road and inspired a few lines to Graham Greene.
