Close to the Llaima, Tolhuaca and Lonquimay volcanoes, it was once an obligatory crossing point for the Pehuenche tribes who lived on both sides of the cordillera; the tribes found there many araucaria pine nuts, the essential basis of their diet. It is possible to stay here in complete tranquillity and enjoy the natural wealth of the surroundings, but it is better to look at the addresses mentioned on the road to Lonquimay. Curacautín is ideally located to reach the thermal baths of Tolhuaca and Manzanar, the Conguillío National Park, the beautiful landscapes of Lonquimay and the source of the Bio Bio river, to the east.
