MERCADO CENTRAL

Chilean restaurant
3.6/5
7 reviews

On the menu: fish and seafood, of course, but also empanadas and other typical Chilean dishes. The best known local is Donde Augusto, but be careful, however, avoid restaurant employees who will insist on offering you a table. Some restaurants serve dishes at unreasonable prices. Others, a little less central, offer dishes that are often cheaper and just as good. Don't hesitate to get lost in the alleys in search of more authentic and less "tourist trap" addresses.

AMBROSIA BISTRO

Chilean restaurant €€
4/5
1 review

Carolina Baza, a Chilean chef trained in Paris, offers creative cuisine inspired by the concept of bistronomy. Prices are low for the quality offered, and the staff are very attentive. You'll eat great crab pasta, lamb stew, beef cheeks and the tiramisu is one of the best in town! If you're tempted by everything and don't know what to choose, the waiters offer excellent advice. Don't forget to pair your dishes with one of the remarkable wines on offer. The chef also owns Ambrosía, a restaurant on the Vicatura side.

BAR NACIONAL

Chilean restaurant
4/5
1 review

The workers in the centre of Santiago have long since adopted this small, lively place that serves very good Chilean casera (home-made) cuisine: lomo a lo pobre, caldo de gallito, empanadas... at prices that are, after all, honest. The lunch menu is a good choice, quite correct and at a low price. A good option to blend in with the daily life and discussions of the locals. The establishment has three other addresses in the neighborhoods of Las Condes, calle Matias Cousino 54 and calle Bandera 317.

PATIO BELLAVISTA

Fusion restaurant and international cuisine €€
3/5

This gastronomic, cultural and social area is home to numerous restaurants, cafeterias, bars, but also art, craft and fashion boutiques and even a theatre. From time to time, the restaurants welcome musicians or dancers for a lively bohemian atmosphere. The terraces are all the more pleasant in summer: in short, we like the setting! The menus have a lot of choice and the tables are varied (Peruvian, Arabic, Chilean, French...), not always excellent, but the overall level is very good.

EL VENECIA

Chilean restaurant
1/5
1 review

A Chilean picada of character, in the old neighborhood of Bellavista, which has been around for 70 years. You can enjoy a good home-made cuisine, "from grandma's house" in a typical decor. It is rich and copious to say the least: pork ham(pernil de cerdo), charquicán, lentejas (lentils), fried fish and its Chilean salad, copious sandwiches... The waiters have a smile and the prices are reasonable. The famous Pablo Neruda used to eat there: why not you? It is better to pay in cash than by card.

BLUE JAR

Americas Caribbean cuisine

Just a stone's throw from the Plaza de la Constitucion, the Blue Jar is the place to be. White-tiled walls, a vast room in the center of which sits a dark wooden bar surrounded by tall, vintage chairs - that's the decor. The atmosphere is that of a popular canteen, a no-frills brasserie populated mainly by locals. When it comes to food, there's plenty to choose from: bagels, toast, sandwiches, empanadas, croquetas, burgers, lasagne, soups, grilled fish, beef fillets or salad, not forgetting the hearty "ounce" and desserts. Yummy!

QUEL BRAVO RAGAZZO

Italian restaurant and pizzeria

In 2022, the neighborhood inaugurated Chile's first paninoteca! Paninis, the famous Italian sandwiches, are the stars of this small local. Take a seat at the few tables on the terrace and let yourself be seduced by the tempting menu. Behind the stove, Italian chef Nicola Schincaglia offers speck, smoked prosciutto, mortadella with pistachios and pecorino cheese made from sheep's milk. We recommend you try the Quel Bravo Ragazzo menu, with three panini choices to try as you go.

LE BISTROT DE GAETAN

Chilean restaurant €€

Gaëtan and his wife (French people who lived in Tahiti) offer in this small brewery what is today considered one of the best tables at decent prices in Santiago. Rabbit with mustard, duck breast with honey, trout meunière, shrimps flambéed in pastis, homemade foie gras terrine, beef bourguignon... the French terroir has made the trip to the Chilean captain and it's all good! Crowded every noon and every evening, on the terrace or inside (reservation more than recommended)

BARANDIARAN

Peruvian restaurant €€

Year after year, this Peruvian restaurant is always full. It serves excellent Peruvian, chifa and international cuisine. Most of the dishes are based on sea products but the menu also offers meat, risottos and vegetarian dishes. The patio and the interior decoration are very tasteful: pre-Columbian art rubs shoulders with frescoes of traditional pirogues on the walls. The must? Sip a pisco sour cocktail outside on the terrace while enjoying the pool. A real little nugget!

LIGURIA LASTARRIA

Fusion restaurant and international cuisine €€

In Santiago, Liguria restaurants are real institutions! The one in the Lastarria neighborhood is no exception. This imposing three-story restaurant has several rooms, all nicely decorated and different from each other, as well as a recently inaugurated hidden terrace. On the menu, an ultra-gourmet Chilean cuisine. You only have to look at the slates announcing the dishes to get your mouth watering: Italian bacon with tagliatelle, Patagonian lamb or tripe with rice, everything is a real delight!

TABERNA EL HOYO

Chilean restaurant

A typical picada very famous in Santiago, opened in 1912. One drinks terremoto (white wine, pisco and pineapple ice cream), of course, the emblematic drink of the place. You can also stay and eat and choose a plateada, an arrollado con papas, a carne mechada con puré or a cazuela de cerdo. In short, good Chilean dishes that fit your stomach! The place is often crowded and very lively, do not count on calm and privacy. A merry mess to eat with the local sauce.

LA DICHA

Americas Caribbean cuisine €€

After 16 years as caterers, Pablo Bagnara and Francesca Margozzin decided to take the plunge and open their own restaurant. And it's a success. No detail has been left to chance, from the elegant bar and tableware to the service. This couple's desire to give their guests a good time is palpable! On the plate, the preparations are internationally inspired and the presentation rather sophisticated. If you're a cocktail lover, you've come to the right place!

CONFITERIA TORRES

Chilean restaurant €€

The story goes back to 1879, when a wealthy aristocratic family praised the merits of their personal chef, Don José Torres. His boss decided to open a restaurant to showcase his protégé's culinary skills. It was a complete success. Poets, political figures and other glamorous celebrities have all passed through the Confiteria Torres and, steeped in history and culture, the place still exudes charm. Here, you can enjoy delicious seafood starters(ceviches), traditional Chilean dishes and homemade sandwiches.

BOCANARIZ

Chilean restaurant €€

An original and interesting menu (tapas or dishes) for this recent address, which we especially recommend to savour one of the excellent wines on offer (you will find more than 350 Chilean wines on the menu!) while snacking, as the portions to eat are, alas, not very copious and are a bit expensive. To try: the tasting of three different wine varieties. The team of sommeliers on site speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese. A good address to enjoy wine tastings as a couple or with friends.

RED PUB

Chilean restaurant €€

Want to combine a gourmet dinner with a festive atmosphere? If you're looking for a place to start an evening with friends, head to this address that opened its doors in 2020. With its subdued atmosphere and its British-inspired decorative touches, this restaurant, which looks more like a pub, is different from the other addresses in the neighborhood. Here, we play the authenticity card: on the menu, mainly pizzas and burgers. Organized on three levels, the Red Pub transforms itself at night into a large bar.

EL NATURISTA

Chilean restaurant

This avant-garde address has been serving vegetarian dishes since 1927! Needless to say, the options are varied and the quality is there. They serve coffees but also fruit juices, including the emblematic carrot juice, the specialty of the house! Also on the menu: sandwiches, salads (with quinoa!), empanadas, soups, as well as more substantial dishes(pastel de choclo, chorrillana naturista, lasagne). And delicious desserts. The service is fast and efficient. An inexpensive address that has been growing steadily over the years.

BORAGÓ

Chilean restaurant €€€

Welcome to the temple of molecular cuisine. Chef Rodolfo Guzmán likes the most unlikely ingredients (flowers, fruits, chlorophyll...) to obtain amazing flavours. To discover: oysters with natural persimmon and passion fruit jam, smoked hake with cinnamon and cooked at low temperature for 4 hours. For a complete panorama, choose the 8-course tasting menu. Some love it, some hate it! But, according to us, it's one of the best restaurants in Santiago. To try at least once in his life!

LIGURIA

Chilean restaurant €€

Who doesn't know Liguria? Everybody finds themselves in this very Chilean "bistro" with unpretentious dishes and unpretentious sticks for lunch and dinner. In an elegant setting, kitschy according to some, but certainly very typical, the service is enthusiastic and smiling. The very friendly atmosphere becomes very hectic in the evening (especially at the Providencia Avenue address), so if you plan to dine in a quiet place, remember to come early. A timeless institution that is well worth a visit during your stay.

LE FOURNIL

Chilean restaurant

On one side, the bakery-pastry shop where you can find curiosities such as beer bread in the middle of the traditional baguettes or butter croissants. On the other hand, the restaurant and its large shaded terrace, with brunch, tartines (large slices of bread on which all sorts of ingredients are placed), sandwiches, quiche lorraine, tablas...promise freshness and quality alongside traditional dishes with sometimes French accents (a duck confit is offered, for example), very well prepared. A popular chain, very appreciated.
