On the edge of the Dades wadi, for about 15 km, it is a succession of small villages overlooking the palm grove. The air is fresher there, at more than 1 400 m of altitude. You are here in the Valley of the Roses and at the beginning of the road of the thousand kasbahs. El-Kelâa M'Gouna is the main rose water production centre in Morocco. The route from El-Kelâa to Boumalne is however disappointing. Indeed, recent constructions along the road hide the palm grove and the kasbahs. To discover the valley, it is better to take the dirt roads that wind through the palm grove. El-Kelâa is also the starting point for many hikes.
