The Dades gorges are wilder than those of Todra, victims of their success. If you have to choose, bet without hesitation on the Dades gorges. They start from Boumalne where the Dades river crosses the N10 in the direction of Tinghir. The road to the gorges takes a good hour by car. You first cross the center of the zaouïa el-Bhir, then Tiyilt. You will then cross on your left an old kasbah of Glaoui. The relief rises then as you advance in the gorges, and the road becomes more and more steep, dominating the Dades. The gorges have kept all their traditional character and, in spite of the development of tourism, the road that leads from Boumalne to the gorges is very inhabited. You arrive then at the foot of a cliff, that a road with peak allows to climb. It is the real beginning of the gorges. The view from the top of the cliff over the valley is extraordinary. At dusk, the sun rushes in and floods it with a magical light. The road then goes down again in soft slope until the most impressive part of the gorges. On each side of the wadi, the cliffs get closer to let pass only a weak net of light. At the bottom of the gorges, there is just enough room for the bed of Dades and a small concrete path allowing to continue the road to enjoy this grandiose spectacle. You will have the impression while passing in this parade that the mountain will swallow the car but, at the other end, a welcoming valley will be offered to your eyes.
