Built along the Todra wadi, 51 km from Boumalne, this large town is planted in the middle of a surprisingly dense palm grove. At an altitude of just over 1,000 m, it enjoys an exceptional location. Its palm grove is among the most beautiful in Morocco, the vegetation is really luxuriant and the crops are abundant. There are many possibilities for walks: you can get lost and cross the 25 km of palm grove that lead to the Todra gorges. On the edge of the palm grove, you must visit the casbah of the Senegalese and the casbah of the Jews, which offer superb views. On the heights is perched the old kasbah of Glaoui, now in ruins. The best time for a walk is in the late afternoon. Reddened by the sun, the mountains make a striking contrast with the green of the vegetation. In the city center, many hawkers and other guides offer the visit of the gorges; it is enough to simply decline. The souk is worth the effort; it is located behind Hassan II street and Zaïd Ouhmed square. The Todra Gorge is impressive, even if mass tourism has made it lose its charm. It is also a region that will enchant climbing fans. Bus companies offer daily connections to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, Er-Rachidia, Erfoud and Rissani. These routes are also possible by large cab. Alternatively, you can cross the Valley of the Birds and go directly to N'Kob, via Ikniouin. The trip is on a track in a crowded bus, and takes about 7 hours.
