Located 40 km northwest of the village of Jablanica, this artificial lake offers beautiful landscapes, especially with the Šćit peninsula on which the monastery of the Assomption is located. The lake was created in 1968 with the implementation of a hydro-electric dam on the Rama River, one of the tributaries of the Neretva. It is 7.5 km wide and 4.6 km wide and extends over 15 km 2. In addition to the peninsula, the lake has four islands including Umac and Škarine. When the water level descends, it is possible to see the top of the old mosque of the village Kopčići buried in 1968.Prozor - The lake belongs to the municipality of Prozor-Rama, which has approximately 17,000 inhabitants, mostly the Bosno-Croatian population. The village of Prozor itself has just over 3,000 inhabitants. You can admire the mosque and the Ottoman district of Nuhefendića, where you can find a beautiful tower tower dating back to 1700.Nearby - By continuing 10 km north of Prozor towards Gornji Vakuf and Bugojno, we arrive at Makljen Pass at 1,123 m altitude. It marks the passage from Bosnia to Central Bosnia. This is where, in 1968, the battle scenes of the tanks of the Battle of Neretva were toured. It is also here that on November 12, 1978 Tito inaugurated the magnificent monument Pesnica («the Poing») dedicated to supporters fallen during the battle of Neretva in 1943. From this amazing white concrete structure to futuristic lines, above 12 m, there is only the reinforcement today. The monument, which survived the civil war, was dynamed by strangers on November 12, 2000. Close to Makljen Pass, we can eat, sleep and even ski.War of 1992-1995 - The Prozor-Rama region was the scene of an «ethnic cleansing» conducted by the Croatian Defense Council (HVO) in 1992-1993 against the Bosnian population. Many civilians were imprisoned in the college of Prozor, then deported, and a dozen were killed. The principal responsible for these acts was arrested in 2013. Today, only part of the Bosnian population has returned. Several religious buildings have been damaged or destroyed, but the Nuhefendića mosque of Prozor has been spared.
