Here's another iconic fado house, A Severa, in Bairro Alto. Maria Severa Onofriana, a bohemian courtesan murdered in 1846 at the age of 26, is considered Portugal's first great fado player. Today, other names pay tribute to her ao vivo (live): Linda Santos, Elsa Coimbra, Natalino de Jesus or João Queiros, answer the call. The restaurant serves traditional Portuguese cuisine(lulas recheadas, cabrito assado). Expect to pay at least €35 per person. The place is very popular, so get there early!
