Inaugurated in 1890 in the heart of Lisbon, this unique multi-purpose venue hosts operas, concerts, circuses and performances of all kinds. The iron structure extends over four circular floors with pit and balconies, and on the top floor is the galeria de pé to see standing concerts at the most economical price. Major Portuguese artists, such as Madredeus, have recorded their live albums here, as have international blue-chips (Caetano Veloso, Paco de Lucía, Kraftwerk, David Byrne...). Good acoustics.
