Peaking at 2,592 metres above sea level at Almanzor Peak, the Sierra de Gredos is specially protected as a regional park covering 86,000 ha and featuring a landscape shaped by glacial erosion on granite rocks. It is one of the classic hikes from Hoyos del Espino, between lakes, cirques and gorges. You will have the chance to encounter any of the 230 different species of vertebrates that have found refuge in the park: the native Cabra Hispanica (ibex), the Almanzor salamander or the Gredos toad. In the sky fly the imperial eagle, the black stork and the black vultures.
