A former defensive bastion against Muslim invasions, Tordesillas is famous thanks to the treaty signed there in 1494 between Spain and Portugal. They shared the domination of the New World. It was also here that Jeanne la Folle was interned until her death, which is why Charles V went there several times to visit her mother. Tordesillas is reached by car from Valladolid on the A-62/E-80. By bus, the Regional VSA runs the Valladolid-Tordesillas route several times a day (www.autocareslaregional.com).
