In the south of Sfax, in a dozen kilometers after the saltworks, Thyna is the most important archaeological center of the surroundings of Sfax. The excavations carried out on this Roman site made it possible to bring to light vestiges of thermal baths, a necropolis and villas decorated with some interesting mosaics. On the spot, however, there is not much to see, most of the pieces, including mosaics, have been transported to the museum in Sfax. Thyna was the city of Juba who rebelled against Caesar in 46 B.C. Colony under Hadrian, the city was then considered as the border between the Carthaginian territory and the Numidian kingdom.
