Located 50 kilometers from Tunis and 18 kilometers from Soliman, the site of Korbous was already famous in Roman times and was a popular destination for Carthaginians. Its seven springs, sources of hot sodium chloride water and cold calcium sulfide water, fed a network of underground ovens that have remained active to this day. Each of them has its own particularity: the Aïn Chiffe spring, for example, is said to treat digestive and gastric disorders and the hot waters of Aïn Kallasira, eczema. The others would soothe inflammatory problems, rheumatism or circulation disorders. The springs are called Aïn Atrous, Aïn el Kebira, Aïn Sbya (the spring of the young girl or the virgin) and Aïn el Fakroun (the spring of the tortoise). The last one, El Arraka (the sweating one), is of underground origin and transmits its steam to the "sauna" that the Romans had already developed. Today, Korbous is composed of white houses that are gathered along a single street, along a cornice of 8 kilometers. The view on the Gulf of Tunis is pleasant. This thermal complex welcomes today a very varied clientele. Considering the curative potential of its waters and these superb open-air baths, one thinks that the thermal station of Kormous could be better developed... The city is also suitable for water sports and underwater fishing.
