Located north of Debrecen, Nyíregyháza (118 000 inhabitants, 7 th town of Hungary) is the communal and school centre of Szabolcs-Bereg-Bereg's County, an agricultural area that has so far been rather poor. Foreign investment has trouble reaching so far, at the borders of Hungary, Ukraine and Romania, but European funds are there to ensure the development of tourism and the renovation of historic buildings. Nyíregyháza, a quiet but charming town, has relied on tourism in particular to ensure its future. Sóstófürdő, a small spa resort in the suburb of Nyíregyháza, is located 6 km from the city centre. In a large wooded park of 450 hectares, planted with several hundred-year-old oaks, there is a small lake of thermal water.There are also facilities for saltwater and iodine pools. But there is also an interesting museum-village (Skanzen) in the open air, and a beautiful zoo.
