To the south of the Bükk Mountains, on the edge of the Great Hungarian Plain, live in matyó populations that play an important role in the maintenance of folk art in Hungary. Their traditional costumes are very colourful, rich in embroidery. Their "Gothic" motifs, by their ogival form, include flowers and stylized leaves, hearts and small birds bécotant face to face. Women's skirts are made in noble tissues such as cashmere or silk finely tunicate. Blouses and blouses are brass of embroidered ribbons. The male clothing, like that of women, is complemented by a small embroidered apron. The matyó shepherds bear beautiful houppelandes in returned sheep, embroidered with floral motifs with shimmering colours.
