Moín is a suburb of Puerto Limón, 8 km away, and it is only its harbor that is of interest. It is a starting point to go to Tortuguero; the crossing takes between 3 and 4 hours. However, it is important to know that leaving from Cariari to go to Tortuguero is cheaper and faster. In the 1970's, old rafts went along the coast until the mouths of the rivers, then boats took over to serve the region covered by a multitude of natural channels. In 1974, new waterways were dug to connect the old canals and make a real navigable network.
