25 km from Busselton, Dunsborough, population 7,000, is the most westerly town on Geographe Bay, named after the ship of French explorer Nicolas Baudin, and 15 km from Cap Naturaliste, named after Baudin's second ship, which sailed the area in 1801. There are plenty of shops for those who want to stock up before exploring the Margaret River region. The coastline is magnificent. Explore along the Cape Naturaliste Road to the north, see Castle Rock, then follow the coastline to Eagle Bay, where you'll find plenty of picture-postcard stops, swimming and walking. Finally, visit the lighthouse.
