The small town of Margaret River is the center of this tourist region. For Australians, the name Margaret River is synonymous with refinement, thanks to some of the country's most renowned vineyards. There are many small art galleries and local producers in the region. For others, surfing remains the main attraction. Beautiful landscapes, with vineyards, tall forests, green hillsides, limestone caves and, above all, a coastline that retains its wild character despite the development of tourism. The almost total absence of buildings on the region's seafront is striking. This reflects the importance of environmental protection in the eyes of Australians: the coastal waters remain a haven of biodiversity, to be observed underwater with a mask and snorkel, or by diving, and also on the water, aboard a cruise in search of whales, dolphins, seals and others. The seaside is nevertheless very well developed for tourists, with numerous parking lots, beach accesses and viewpoints, perhaps reflecting the richness of Western Australia, linked in large part to the mining activities of the Outback! There are also many caves to visit in the region. Whether you're taking it easy in one of the superb vineyards or surfing the waves on one of its famous beaches, you won't regret your stay.
