Tucked away on a quiet, residential street in the upscale Vinohrady district, Café Kaaba is an authentic haven of peace. Step inside its retro, colorful 1960s interiors, which will appeal to all lovers of design and architecture. The café menu is impressive, while small snacks are available for refreshment. During the day, it's a paradise for local freelancers, who come here to find a restful refuge and a free Wi-Fi connection for working, while in the evening the café comes alive.

Operas and ballets in a magnificent neo-Renaissance building from 1888 (built and rebuilt in the 1970s), unfortunately stuck between two large noisy avenues just behind the National Museum and Prague Station. The interior of the building is sublime and reminiscent of the great days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire with gilding, red velvet, frescoes and magnificent ornate balconies. Just like the Municipal House, we go there as much for the performance as for the decor!

This café, which is part of the cubist house, has its own furniture. Note the right angles of the coffee services, the chandeliers, the furniture... The house with the Black Madonna was built in 1912 by the famous architect Josef Gočár when he was only 31 years old. Very good for a quiet break in a Belle Époque style. Note that coffee is also a good option if you want to eat. You can taste cakes, gourmet cakes, the inevitable Czech beers, or simply enjoy a coffee in this historical place.

A club with a sulphurous reputation, it's one of those after-hours clubs that opens at dawn and attracts all those who can't or won't sleep. It's a very eclectic faun atmosphere, a little crazy at times, a little creepy at others, depending on when you go and what state of mind you're in. As it says at the entrance: don't go there if you have something important to do later in the day... In short, a place we don't necessarily recommend for the coffee, but for everything else..

In the evening, it is young people (some of them come from Club Reduta or Rock Café) who come, attracted by the delicacies we know how to concoct here. On the right is the restaurant with magnificent frescos and the café on the left. The setting is magnificent and the atmosphere calm. The late 19th century room has been restored, the walls and ceilings are covered with stucco and painted in white and pink. Huge mirrors enlarge the already very large space. Black and white portraits on the walls, black leather benches... On the menu: coffees, ice-creams and pancakes.

A beautiful cocktail bar, hidden in the basement of the U Prince Hotel. We come here to taste top-of-the-range cocktails. The Black Angel's Bar was designed in a resolutely 1930s style. We are quickly transported into the world of black and white movies with cocktails with well-chosen names. The staff is very professional, the piano creates a cosy and pleasant atmosphere, and some somewhat forgotten cocktails will take you back to the time of prohibition. Black Angel's is ranked in the Top 50 and Top 10 of the best hotel bars in the world!

A cocktail bar in the Žižkov? This seems to be becoming a habit as this once popular neighbourhood has now become fashionable! The Bukowski, however, is an institution, a little bit of history of the district, one of these subdued, strange and surprising lairs, always full of stories that take place there, to be told or heard. We sit comfortably on the chairs or standing at the counter. The night will be long, hectic and sometimes surreal. Bukowski himself would have approved!

It is the most famous, touristic and expensive hospoda in Prague. It is no longer even a hospoda, as it has become such a crowded tourist attraction with so many German groups that you have to book in advance to be able to return. But it must be said that, despite this unpleasant aspect, you will rarely have the opportunity to eat in a setting as pretty as this one. Be careful, however, with the "welcome" Becherovka, served by a jovial waiter.... who will not hesitate to make you pay the insolent sum of 80 Kč !

An underground bar with an equally underground atmosphere, the Vzorkovna takes you to the heart of Prague's alternative atmosphere in the heart of the old city on National Street! Walk down the steps of this dark cave and lose yourself in the maze of smoky spaces where the wild rhythms of the DJs of a live show resonate. On the program of many concerts, excellent beer (from the brewery Únětické), a young and trendy fauna and a smoky atmosphere in a recycling furniture. A real hot spot among the city's alternative youth.

In the centre of Prague, the Metro Theatre offers shows typical of the Czech black light process: some of the actors are hidden in the dark and move characters and objects, making them dynamic and surprising. The pieces are therefore silent, but animated by choreography and sometimes involve the audience. Metro Theatre offers an interesting interactive workshop that unveils the secrets of black light theatre.

Even if it is not the best beer in the world (and not even the best Czech beer), the very sweet blonde from Prague can be discovered during an interesting visit, at the end of which the tasting takes place as close as possible to the tanks within the brewery's own premises in Smíchov, with an excellent menu of Czech specialities that perfectly match the cherries ! The setting is typically Czech: wood and large volumes.

Café Montmartre, formerly Cabaret Montmartre, has a long history. Since 1911, hidden away in an alleyway in the old town, it has been the HQ of intellectuals and philosophers who come to remake the world. Photos of its past can be admired on the wall, including those of Max Brod and Franz Kafka. Today, the intellectual effervescence has migrated to the café opposite (see Kaverna Retezova), but the pleasant setting has remained, ideal for sipping a selection of excellent teas and coffees or some of the very good pastries.

Different shows combining modern dance, traditional pantomime art, surprising visual and sound effects and black theater miracles, in a whimsical and colorful fiction featuring dancers and actors in fluorescent costumes, whose unprecedented animations are possible thanks to those who, dressed in black and constantly on the stage without our knowledge, are the real actors of black theater. A very popular performance: book in advance!

One of the most recent references in Prague for jazz in the Smíchov district. The strong point of this club: we are flush with the water, on the banks of the Vltava river. The music is good, the bar is huge and is reflected in an equally impressive glass wall. Escape for a concert and then take a walk along the banks of the Vlatava River, up to Mala Strana with a view of the old town and castle, is one of the best experiences in Prague. Booking recommended.

Bar and nightclub located in the heart of the old town, Harley is, as its name suggests, a place themed on the famous American motorcycle. Inside, however, there are no big bearded and tattooed bikers in jeans and leather, but rather a mixture of tourists, expats and locals who meet to party until the end of the night, in a rather young and wild atmosphere. On the menu, good cocktails and draught beers, DJs, dancers and sometimes spectacular animations.

An Irish pub that's true to the recipe of Irish pubs around the world, and that lives up to your expectations: it's a place where you can have fun and meet people from all over the world. The Irish-Czech staff are extremely helpful. Frank, the owner, personally recommends the fish and chips and lamb, while the Guinness flows on draught between two games of darts or pool. As in all Irish pubs, sports broadcasts every day, whatever the competition, and live music enhance the evenings.

Music Club Phenomen is aimed at the new generation of young Czech executives. "Work hard play hard" is the key word for this trendy and design bar-club located in the heart of the working class district of Smíchov. You will find a festive atmosphere every weekend, with R'n'B, electro and disco music. For the district, it is a rather welcome novelty and which allows him to open to a new clientele, more well-off but certainly not less festive.

Rare enough in the city center to be worth mentioning, this nightclub doesn't stand out, for once, for its go-go dancers (there aren't any) or its exorbitant prices (entry is free). The 25-40 year-olds who frequent the place come here to have fun and listen to a mix of pop-rock-techno music as soon as the few tourists have deserted the place, usually between midnight and 1am. Order at the bar and try to find a place for yourself, or let yourself be carried along by the rhythm of the music and get to know each other..

The café is on the ground floor of the hotel of the same name. Built in the Art nouveau style, it is considered one of the most beautiful in the city. Soft ambiance, Art Deco chandeliers, small marble tables, comfortable chairs, stuccoes, paintings and well-dressed waiters await you here. Unlike appearances, many young foreigners come to admire the place, become a real tourist curiosity. A coffee or a small dish, but also pancakes and different kinds of Czech pastries.

The programming is very eclectic, from blues to rock and rock to hard rock and retro orchestras. Browse the website and find the dates or artists that suit you to buy your tickets well in advance, especially in high season. In any case, you will be well settled in one of the most historic buildings in the district, which also serves a good cuisine, even if its location on the Place du Petit Côté, makes it a popular destination for tourists. One of the reference addresses in Prague for music.

You'll pass it again and again as you stroll along Wenceslas Square. The club is located on the top floor of the building at the corner of Jindřišská Street, and it's always packed, any night of the week. Beautiful girls, handsome guys, overpriced drinks, gogo dancers, lots of tourists... in short, all the ingredients for the success of a club that has been fashionable for many years already... Not very authentic and very superficial, but effective when you like this type of atmosphere. After that, you either love it or hate it.

It's hard to miss the countless signs around Charles Bridge proclaiming this club to be "the biggest in Central Europe". Not surprising in terms of ambience. But big it is, with its many different-sounding rooms (chill, hardcore dance, dance house). Five floors of dancing, drinking and fun in a very young, very touristy atmosphere. Special mention for the ice pub, where the atmosphere never gets cold! If you're going out in the early hours of the morning, take the opportunity to stroll along Charles Bridge when it's deserted.

A very good acoustics in this small club that programs excellent jazz shows. Mostly Czech groups, but also ensembles from other Eastern European countries or from across the Atlantic. It's a good address in his style but you'll have to think about coming early to make sure you have a table or at least a good seat. For the record, it was in this club that Bill Clinton played Summertime and My Funny Valentine with a golden saxophone offered by Václav Havel in 1994 during an official visit.

A recent club of very high level where you listen to the best musicians. You can eat it.

Everyone knows Ujezd, it's the alternative bar in the neighborhood. Open most of the day and night, it welcomes the locals, their dogs and some expats (with their dogs too). The music is good and not too loud, and one of the three floors, with three different atmospheres, will necessarily suit your desire of the moment. Upstairs, there is a pub atmosphere, on the ground floor, an artistic café atmosphere, and in the basement there is more of a crazy club. A very good address that will make your evening a successful one.

If you are a vegetarian and spend a weekend in Prague, you will have no trouble finding what you are looking for at the Radost FX restaurant-bar. Located not far from the I.P.Pavlova metro station, this bar-restaurant and disco (one of the most famous in the city) has an excellent vegetarian restaurant that has been renowned for several years (it was there before fashion spread in Prague) and offers the best dishes of its kind in the city. It's varied, elaborate, well prepared and the setting is very trendy. The home of Prague's international artists.

It's a very convivial address, popular with a young clientele who come to this sober, elegant place to share a few tacos or a good beer until late in the evening. The place is always full and owes its name "pompe jaune" ("yellow pump") to the antique yellow-painted water fountain in front of the terrace! The staff are friendly and the clientele young and relaxed, although we regret the lack of cultural programming for which the place would be well suited. But the atmosphere is already very festive in the dining room and around the bar!

One of the best clubs in Prague, who has been leading the bill for more than a decade without going out of style. At least undoubtedly in the category of the most trendy addresses, even if the club itself is actually lost in the middle of the residential area of Holešovice. It attracts the golden Prague youth, rich Russians and many expats for long, drunken nights. The girls are radiant, the guys elegant and the seduction is going well. The music is excellent and many international DJs come to mix.

This discotheque - a Prague institution - is in fact a gigantic leisure complex where you can eat, dance, drink and socialize until the end of the night. The kitchens of the vegetarian bar-restaurant (one of the city's best-known) stay open late. On the club side, you'll find a regular line-up of DJs from all over the world, providing themed evenings with frenzied rhythms. Enough to spend an entire evening, starting in the restaurant, then the bar, ending in the discotheque, and going out at dawn..

Smaller than the beergarden of Letná and Zižkov, it is situated in the middle of the park of Stromovka, the former royal hunting reserve. This English-style park is located in the district of Bubeneč, just beyond Letná, and has retained a very wild side, offering in particular much more shade than the other parks in the city, which is why its beergarden is very popular in summer. Open-air concerts are held occasionally on sunny days.

A small coffee in the back room of a tobacco company. However, even if the entrance does not look like much, we are very comfortable in this "back shop". It's very cosy, and the furniture is, for the most part, recycled. We come here to drink lattes, cappuccino or machiatto and talk for long hours. Very popular with students, professors and intellectuals and not very popular with tourists, despite the location, a few steps from Malostranske Náměstí. A small secret den that opens the doors to Czech neighbourhood life.

Meeting point for lovers of quiet reading and entertainment in the evening. This café has a pretty courtyard at the back of the room, particularly quiet given its central location, a stone's throw from the Place de la Vieille Ville. A place where students and literary people meet, friendly and warm. A downside to alcoholic beverages: it will be necessary to know how to be satisfied with beer because the wines selected are really not up to the task. Evening debates or occasional screenings and a small book shop.

It is impossible to resist this half-basement café, which is barely noticeable during the day but which exudes a warm atmosphere as soon as you pass by its bay windows in the evening. Very frequented by a joyful and noisy student population, always full, always lively, always full of a joyful bric-a-brac and a colorful disorder. The consoles as well as the dishes on the go are adapted to the customers and therefore cheap. A simple, authentic and very pleasant place, a stone's throw from the University of Philosophy.

Another small neighbourhood brewery, but this time with a touch of exoticism that we will like... or not. The beers are brewed on the spot but, after fermentation, they are flavoured with banana, chocolate, nettle... More than ten different recipes are to be tested: we can serve you a pint to taste before ordering the pint! Also eat with a very classic Czech menu. The interior decorations are not very exceptional but it can be a welcome stopover on this busy avenue.

Above the Roxy, NoD is Prague's "artistic" bar. Expos, parades, concerts... Prague is a small town and often has the same fashion and arts circle, so you will probably feel like you are in an unknown land, where everyone knows everyone else. The whole thing is obviously a little (very?) overrated, but it's worth seeing if you're passing through the area. The bar is bright, the decoration minimalist, refined and the space is vast. Despite the crowds in the early evening, everyone keeps their own living space.

Cocktail lovers, here is an excellent address in the Sainte-Agnès district. The great classics or creations are made from fresh fruit, cut and pressed on demand, and the boss is generous with the doses... The room is tiny, which favours contacts with an essentially Czech clientele, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The welcome is very friendly and the perfect location, a stone's throw from the Roxy or the beautiful breweries of the Old Town, while remaining calm, hidden in its small alleyway.

This Alla Stella Nera (Black Star) wine house is in the heart of the Old Town, between Charles Bridge and Old Town Square, in a building dating from the 15th century. You will find a very small and intimate terrace, a sort of inner courtyard, a restaurant upstairs and in the basement, but we do not recommend it: poor quality and exorbitant prices. On the other hand, the setting is perfect for the bar area where you can taste French and Italian wines as well as a selection of world wines and Italian cheeses.

This neo-baroque pavilion, built in 1891 in the middle of Letná Park, offers an expensive and classic cuisine that is not really worth a visit. However, you can simply enjoy a cold beer (expensive anyway) in a sumptuous setting with, above all, at your feet at the very bottom, the Czech capital stretching out on either side of the Vltava. For a "panoramic beer" therefore, and especially valid on sunny days, when you can sit in the sun, on one of the tables on the terrace, to enjoy both the setting and the view.

A strange and authentic place, faithful to the reputation of the somewhat crazy bars in the neighbourhood. Because it is located in the lowlands of Zižkov, on the most urban and active street in the city. Old and young mix around beers and Hermelin (the famous marinated camembert). This bar has seen a lot of things and characters! No prejudice here, you will never be looked at wrong (if you drink your beer). There's always an atmosphere. Just above the bar, along the railway line, a secret čajovna (Čajirna nad Olem).

It is here that one of the countless traces of the Brave Soldier Sheveik, the greatest Czech literary classic written by Hašek, will be found. The walls tell his story through posters or sketches, like a dozen pubs and restaurants throughout Prague, as the character has become so mythical over the years. They drink Pilsen Prazdroj 12° and also eat traditional Czech cuisine, not very refined. It is particularly touristy, so we will go there more for the setting, friendly and good-natured.

Considered one of the best art house cinemas in Prague. It is very popular and often shows retrospectives. Nice bar at the entrance. Located a little east of the Žižkov district, a little behind the city center. It's a very popular atmosphere where young students mix with old film lovers, and it criticizes and compares as it should. Unfortunately, very few films are offered in dubbed versions. If you don't speak Czech, you should try to see films with subtitles, otherwise you will be very frustrated.

A gigantic mutiplex and IMAX cinema, in an equally gigantic shopping centre on the borders of the Vinohrady and Žižkov districts. No independent films, auteur or art and essay films here, but rather the big American or other commercial successes and regularly, in the IMax room, immersive films on planets, sharks, dinosaurs. The top floor of the shopping centre is home to a large number of small fast-food chains, so you will have no trouble swallowing a little something before or after your session.

Conveniently located in the Slovansky Dum shopping center, between the Municipal House and Wenceslas Square, this modern cinema is the only multiplex in the city center, with ten screens, including one equipped with a 3D screen. It screens the major Hollywood blockbusters and commercial successes, as well as most new Czech films. Most American films are in VO (with Czech subtitles), but Czech films are in VO without subtitles.

Another of those cafés set up in an emblematic Prague monument, where you can travel back in time as if you were having a cup of coffee... This superb example of Czech Art Nouveau, beautifully restored, is splendid. This makes it a must-see tourist attraction in the heart of the Municipal House. A word of advice: just drop in for a visit, or settle for the bare minimum with a coffee. Unfortunately, the cocktails are of poor quality. Even if the bar is magnificent, the cuisine is expensive and mediocre. You're only here for the setting!

The place is absolutely superb, an Art Nouveau temple. It is a popular venue for concerts (Royal Symphony Orchestra of Prague, Choirs of Prague) and has become a major tourist attraction. Feel free to buy your tickets in advance because the only experience of ordering a cocktail in the Art Nouveau bar and then entering this fabulous room is worth the entrance ticket. On site, purchase of tickets inside. A short journey through time guaranteed!

You're invited to the world's first 3D sound and light show. Prague's "black light" theater is at its best in this extraordinary extravaganza featuring ultraviolet lights and fluorescent colors with special effects, creating a rare and magical moment that will leave you in awe. The shows combine mime, dance and music in wordless, international performances.

This theatre was built in 1783, but more recently renovated and completed in 1992. It is world famous for hosting Mozart's first performance of Don Giovanni in 1787. It is also here that in 1831 the song Kde domov můj resounded for the first time, "Where is my homeland (my home)? ", signed by the Czech composer František Škroup, whose first verse will become, in 1918, the anthem of Czechoslovakia. In 1993, after independence, it was again adopted as the Czech national anthem.
