GARDEN'S RESTAURANT
Read moreYou enter this restaurant as you would enter your home. A dream home, where the warm white and grey decoration seems to fade away to better highlight the design objects that adorn every corner of the establishment. On the restaurant side, we spend a very good time in a room where the tables are well spaced in the interior room, the veranda or even the small secret garden, open to the sunny days. Cuisine dominated by Czech cuisine but made with lightness and carefully selected products. To be demanding without paying too much!
U MATEJE
Read moreRegular guests usually visit this hostel early, before going to a concert or opera, so the tables are more lively between 6pm and 7.30pm than later in the evening. In any case, you will have a good time eating, especially if you are a carnivore: the owners of the establishment started their business with a butcher shop, and the animals always come from their own farm. In burgers or more typically Czech recipes, the common point is above all the generosity of the portions!
ŠENKÝRNA HLUBINA
Read moreA very beautiful tavern, traditional in form but resolutely modern in layout and decoration. On three floors, the wooden tables on a stone and brick wall welcome a local clientele who let themselves be served before ordering a pint of beer brewed on site in the large copper tanks that cannot be missed when entering the establishment. The traditional cuisine is robust and generous, mainly of Czech inspiration: soups, duck, cabbage... An excellent base for a solid lunch.
MINCOVNA
Read moreIt has been a long time since we decided not to recommend a restaurant in the Place de la Vieille Ville because of the widespread use of tourist attractions. It must be said that this new establishment plays another card: that of quality and authenticity. Simple and modern décor, classic recipes but not bourratives, friendly service, neither too slow nor too fast, rare in the district... Everything contributes to a lunch break (lunch menus are a bargain!) or a successful dinner in the most beautiful square of the city!
U BANSETHŮ
Read moreIf you are looking to get off the beaten track around Vyšehrad Castle, this is the perfect place for a short stop during the day. More than a century of traditions! They prepare very good Czech specialties here (roast duck in the spotlight of course) at reasonable prices and in generous portions, often much better than in downtown restaurants. Of course, they serve delicious craft beer. A small, friendly restaurant with about 100 seats for a very local experience!
BISTRO N°19
Read moreYou'd almost walk past it without seeing it, so tiny and discreet is the space. But walking through the door is well worth it: the décor is uncluttered, very chic and relaxing, and you can wait while you study the menu, which is brimming with fresh, seasonal produce for both carnivores and vegetarians. Dishes are presented with care, and the menu changes daily according to market finds and the chef's inspiration. In the adjacent gallery, contemporary Czech artists exhibit their work, which can be enjoyed as an appetizer.

U KROKA
Read moreIf you're in the neighborhood for a visit to Vyšehrad, this is a great spot with good Czech recipes and a range of vegetarian dishes. The daily menu is a bargain, but the a la carte prices go up rather quickly on the best specialties. That said, the portions are generous and the quality is good. Victim of its success and its location, the establishment is quickly sold out and a phone call to reserve the day before is highly recommended, but you can also go through its website.
SASAZU
Read moreSaSaZu is first and foremost a concept: a former warehouse in the Prague market, in the northern district of Holešovice, converted into a high-end Asian restaurant and mega-club. This alone explains the gentrification of the district. Then there's the cuisine. Rather, five cuisines and cooking methods imported from the four corners of Asia: sambal, otak otak, Wok, roti and Thai. It's delicious and particularly authentic for Prague. Last but not least, SaSaZu is a unique place: a classy Asian decor and a fine cocktail menu.
THE SUSHI BAR
Read moreSushi restaurants have become a legion in recent years in Prague, becoming increasingly popular with Czechs and tourists alike. But The Sushi Bar remains THE first sushi restaurant in Prague (opened in 1999) and remains one of the best in the city. Not surprising when you see the beautiful fish from the adjoining fish shop: everything is attractive! We find all the classic sashimi, sushi and maki with some creative surprises. Impeccable hygiene and top-of-the-range service. A sure thing for a Japanese moment.
KOBE STEAK GRILL SUSHI
Read moreAn ideal restaurant for Asian carnivores: some will come for Kobe meat (be careful, prices rise quickly, from 90 € to 165 €), others for the tender pieces of Wagyu or Argentine beef, more accessible. We enjoy these delicious pieces of beef, served with a choice of sauces, vegetables or kimchi. But as in any self-respecting Japanese restaurant, sushi and sashimi are also in the spotlight. Special mention for the sauces, very well worked. It's sober, elegant and very good
STOLETÍ
Read moreNear the rotunda of Sainte-Croix, in a peaceful corner of the Old Town and three steps from the Vltava, a well-worked setting ideal for a romantic dinner around original recipes concocted with passion and named after famous people. Try "Somerset Maugham" pepper steak or "Louis Armstrong" orange filet mignon medallions. The polenta that accompanies most dishes is a success of its kind and a pleasant change from potato bread. Most of the recipes are Italian-inspired.
U BALBÍNŮ
Read moreA decor without frills, but where one could spend hours reading (in Czech) the press clippings glued to the walls and dedicated to poetry and Bohuslav Balbín, who gave his name to several kavarna in the capital. This one is discreet but particularly pleasant with its large tables arranged in a space where the volumes under the brick ceiling are appreciable. Soups and daily specials are as hearty and tasty as they are cheap, even if you obviously don't come here for gastronomy.
KONVIKT
Read moreA crowded bar, large tables serving pints and fried cheeses like fajitas: don't come here to treat your cholesterol! The clientele of regulars comes here to eat as much as to share beers in the evening, and the pop atmosphere is good at all hours. As for the dishes, nothing really extraordinary, but honest recipes and hearty portions make for a complete meal with a drink at a reasonable price - what more could you ask for? Come early on sports nights, as the tables fill up even faster.
KOFEIN
Read moreA new tapas restaurant in the heart of Vinohrady that has attracted many fans. It must be said that this type of address is rare in the area. The recipes go far beyond the simple framework of traditional tapas to explore the full potential of Czech or other products, with the full range of oriental spices. Tempura vegetables with wasabi, giant prawns grilled in white wine, fried olives... Everything is fresh and original. A very good neighbourhood address with a beautiful wine list and excellent coffee shops.
SKLEP
Read moreRestaurant, guesthouse and club, Sklep has a bit of everything and has consequently become the haunt of students from the nearby University of Economics, who come here to eat at low prices. Excellent, hearty Czech food is served, as well as international dishes with an Asian flavour. The neighborhood swears by their roast duck and garlic soup! The restaurant also boasts a pleasant tropical veranda. The selection of beers is also very tempting, and kegs are on tap until late at night on weekends.
LA DÉGUSTATION BOHÊME BOURGEOISE
Read moreLa Dégustation Bohême Bourgeoise specializes in late 19th-century Czech and French cuisine. The place is very welcoming, spacious, and nothing is left to chance. Chef de cuisine Oldřich Sahajdák gives us a real lesson in creativity: there's plenty of innovation and genius in the preparation of dishes and sweets, and the menu evolves with the seasons. To the price of the menus, add 1,750 Kč to enjoy the food/wine pairing.
BELCREDI
Read moreBehind large bay windows overlooking the ballet of streetcars on Horákové Street, you can sit at beautiful wooden tables with a very Nordic design to savor daily menus composed according to the season and the chef's mood, unless you are tempted by the more fusion menu where Italy dominates, although the products are Czech. In summer, the bistro offers delicious picnic baskets to order and take with you for an outdoor lunch in the nearby Letna Park. Many vegetarian dishes are also on the menu.
LUKA LU
Read moreThe latest trendy Italian restaurant in Prague is located in the Mala Strana district, in the direction of Smichov. Dare to enter this Ali Baba's cave where antiques and kitsch details are mixed in a busy but never heavy decor. There are some up to the ceiling! But don't lose your head, the main thing is in the plate: squid stuffed with whole octopus à la romaine, spaghetti with truffles or involtini... You'll enjoy reading as well as tasting: a no-fail! The staff will advise you on the best products of the moment.
U ROZVAŘILŮ
Read moreFast and simple, it is the ideal place to eat on the go a typical Czech dish, leaning against the iron counters. In this very lively neighborhood, there are always people and the atmosphere is joyfully popular. Traditionally, it was a workers' restaurant, more precisely a self-service restaurant, whose policy of low prices and generous portions have attracted an ever-increasing number of tourists. It's always good, cheap, and friendly. Certainly not great gastronomy, but prices that defy all competition!
U SADU
Read moreA real institution in the district, always crowded in a cheerful mixture of Czechs from the district who come as neighbours and foreigners, tourists or expats. The room, at the narrow entrance, is a real labyrinth with its many spaces, upstairs, in the basement or on the terrace, the place is particularly busy during sports broadcasts. On the plate side, it is copious and cheap, from the country's cuisine, authentic, popular and tasty. Try the recipes for pork chops, the house's speciality.
NOI RESTAURANT
Read moreA Thai lounge restaurant in Malá Strana with an ultra-pure décor. A la carte, all Thai specialities. Provided you like spicy dishes, you will enjoy the best specialities of this establishment. Special mention for the chopped duck with ginger (very spicy) and the Thai salad with chicken and shrimps. No worries for delicate palates: small peppers on the menu indicate the degree of spice in the dish. In summer, a beautiful outdoor courtyard. On weekend evenings, a DJ sets the mood in the lounge room. Smoking and non-smoking room.
LASAGNERIA
Read moreThe concept of this bright, modern space, where you can sit down to a convivial meal around large tables, is rather simple: the menu is limited to lasagne dishes. But be warned: everything is homemade, the products are fresh and the recipes come in classic lasagne, bolonaise, vegetable lasagne, four-cheese lasagne, vegetarian lasagne... It's a hit with connoisseurs, and the recipes are as good as they are generous. Let's not forget the quality of the welcome, and the picture will be complete!
ICHNUSA BOTEGA BISTRO
Read moreA tiny Sardinian grocery store and restaurant on a quiet street in the Smíchov district, Ichnusa Botega & Bistro offers an authentic Italian menu renewed daily by the Italian chef, who uses the freshest produce imported directly from Italy. With only a few tables available, the place is quickly snapped up, especially as it has quickly become one of Prague's most famous addresses. It's the place to go for Parma ham chiffonnade, octopus salad or carpaccio..
OSTERIA DA CLARA
Read moreBricks on the wall and floor in Siena, the tone is set as soon as you enter this adorable traditional Italian osteria opened in 2008. The chef magnifies the flavours of transalpine cuisine in this cave nestled in a residential area of the fashionable Vršovice district. Everything here is fresh and cooked on site, with a menu constantly renewed by the chef. No pizzas of course, more like scaloppine, involtini and succulent pastas! An excellent Italian address at very affordable prices considering the quality.
RESTAURACE CJ26
Read moreTucked away in an alleyway away from the main tourist routes, this small neighborhood restaurant is a fine example of Italian cuisine. Pasta, risottos, veal cutlets with marsala, various octopus recipes and fresh fish arrivals. Truffles are also in season, and everything arrives at the table in a meticulous presentation that's as appetizing to the eye as it is to the stomach. All this is accompanied by some very fine Italian, French and Czech wine labels, to be discovered by the glass or bottle.
LA BODEGUITA DEL MEDIO
Read moreThe atmosphere is intimate with Cuban music. Fast and warm service and rich gourmet dishes. Try the tapas plate to taste in small quantities all the specialities on offer. All to be enjoyed with a Cuban rum cocktail. It's very nice for an early evening, but the tourist success has taken the edge off the quality of the dishes, which are just about right for the prices displayed. We therefore advise you above all for the atmosphere and the setting, to escape for a moment in Cuba.
PASTIČKA
Read moreA basement pub in a residential street in Vinohrady that offers charming wooden interiors under vaulted ceilings, as well as a very pleasant garden during the summer months. The customers mix Czechs and expats from the neighbourhood and the beers flow in at the end of the day, at the end of the day, when the offices close. The lunch menu with its fresh produce is very popular, as is the evening menu, which offers solid Czech specialities at very affordable prices. A good neighbourhood address where the atmosphere rises quickly and where you like to linger.
LE CAMILLE
Read moreThis friendly Italian bistro offers daily menus based on fresh produce, including seafood. Pasta and risottos are the order of the day, but there are also more substantial dishes (meat or fish) as well as vegetarian formulas, soups and homemade pastries. All for a very reasonable budget, given the quality of the products, and served by a friendly, smiling team. Also great during the day for a simple coffee... ristretto, of course!

LAVIČKA ZAHRADNÍ
Read moreVery good Czech specialties, but also nice pasta dishes and a good choice of wines on the menu. The setting is very nicely decorated with old newspaper advertisements and, at the back, you can have lunch or dinner in a small, quiet, nicely lit garden. The address is often crowded as soon as the weather is fine to enjoy the garden. The Czech cuisine is revisited here with a touch of modernism, i.e. the portions are smaller and the result on the plate less fatty.
VINOHRADSKÝ PIVOVAR
Read moreOne of the many microbreweries in Prague, Vinohradský Pivovar opened its doors at the end of the 2000s, on the site of a brewery dating from the late 19th century. Today, in a very contemporary setting and with a minimalist decoration, it is one of the most charming places to enjoy one of their delicious beers. This is the main reason for this, but success has also led to the opening of a very recommendable restaurant where you can try some very successful Czech specialities from the menu. Booking recommended!
U ZAVĚŠENÝHO CAFÉ
Read moreA very beautiful address for a quiet lunch in the heights of Malà Strana, far from the tourist crowd, in the Loreta district. The pearl of this establishment is of course its terrace at the back, facing the hill of Petřín. Below, you can see the banks of the Vltava River, lined with prestigious buildings and dominated by the steeples of Staré Mĕsto and Nové Mĕsto. The menu offers good Czech specialities for less than 200 Kč. We can also take a short break during the day, to try some excellent homemade tiramisu.
VINOHRADSKÁ HOSPŮDKA
Read moreOne of the few remaining working-class restaurants in the middle-class Vinohrady district, Ztráty & Nálezy is located in the basement of a beautiful Prague mansion. The setting, a sort of bric-a-brac, with its large wooden tables, old counter and framed walls, is as rustic as the kitchen. Don't expect great gastronomy, but the dishes are hearty and particularly inexpensive. The restaurant serves Czech cuisine.
U ZLATÉ KONVICE
Read moreIt doesn't get much more central than this address on Old Town Square! Romanesque and Gothic vaults house the Konšelský Sal main hall, with its stone walls, weapons from a bygone era and, above all, murals of Czech lords. In the14th-century cellars, you can enjoy the taste of various grilled meats and old Czech dishes. Wash it all down with a glass of Pilsner beer or Moravian wine. A unique atmosphere, with a live band and traditional music, where you can sample the best of local cuisine.
TAVERNA OLYMPOS
Read moreAuthentic Greek tavern in the Zižkov district (on the same street as the Akropolis Club... coincidence or not?) which aims to become the Greek reference in Prague. Open kitchen, large noisy clean rooms, and a change of scenery thanks to the frescoes on the walls. All Greek specialities are on the menu with a penchant for selecting fresh fish, cooked over a wood fire and billed by weight. A wide selection of Greek wines. As in Greece, people eat there late and it's crazy when they watch Greek matches..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................
AGAVE RESTAURANT
Read moreA good address for savouring clever cocktails before savouring surprising Mexican gastro cuisine. Contemporary decor and atmosphere. This rather unique establishment is the latest project of serial entrepreneur Glenn Spicker, a troublemaker on the Prague gastronomic scene since 1992, with creations such as U Malého Glena and Bohemia Bagel to his credit. He called on chef Christian Dolias, who has made a name for himself on the Mexican cuisine scene in California and Las Vegas.
U BULÍNŮ
Read moreA very well maintained restaurant at the corner of Francouzká Street, which offers Czech specialities as well as beautiful salads and dough dishes, perfectly presented on well laid out tables. The setting is both sober and chic, the service excellent and the prices reasonable considering the quality of the products. A great opportunity to taste Czech cuisine in a more refined setting. The daily menus, served at lunch, at less than 150 Kč, are a bargain and it is better to arrive early to find a table.
LAL QILA
Read moreUndoubtedly one of the best Indian restaurants in Prague, Lal Qila is nestled in a basement cellar on a quiet little street in Vinohrady, opposite the equally recommendable Kaaba café. We regret eating in the basement, but considering the quality of the restaurant, we don't hesitate! Amazing, in the heart of Prague, not necessarily known for its large Indian community, to find the flavours and smells of Indian spices. The service is equally relaxed and jovial. A very nice place to find an alternative to Czech food.
