The first written mention of the medieval place dates back to 1332. The fortress, which belonged to the Morović family, dates back to 1438. Later, what remained of the fortifications became part of the large estate of Baron Prandau-Norman. He built his castle on this stronghold in 1801. Today, in the center of Valpovo, this castle-museum, surrounded by a large and picturesque park, is open to the public. There is a tourist agency that provides information about the natural and cultural heritage of the small town, the history of the castle, excursions and activities in the surroundings or the spa in Bizovac, for example.
