Markets are the lifeblood of destinations, and a visit to the Tartu market, just a stone's throw from the river, reveals that the locals love dill (the smell of the herb wafts through the air almost constantly) and that they love to garden, especially in their kitchen gardens (there are plenty of stalls selling seedlings).
