Slantchev Briyag, the Sun Coast, is not the most authentic place in Bulgaria. It is literally a vacation factory, built in the 1960s and since the late 1990s in a process of overbuilding that is still ongoing; a seaside resort area where hotels and large buildings are lined up along a huge sandy beach. This is where young British, Scandinavians, Germans and Russians flock. At night, the discos and bars vibrate non-stop and can be heard for miles around. We can't advise you enough to avoid Sunny Beach. In the off season, the resort is deserted.
