Port city and seaside resort, university city and city of rich heritage, Varna has nearly 400 000 inhabitants. It is the metropolis of the Bulgarian Black Sea and the third city of the country, after Sofia and Plovdiv. With its many museums and important festivals, it is a very dynamic and lively city. If Varna sees an influx of tourists in summer, it remains lively all year round, having become a major economic and industrial center, housing one of the most important ports on the Black Sea. One can enjoy walking along its elegant alleys dating from the 19th century, planted with trees that make up a particularly pleasant pedestrian area. The neoclassical facades have kept their beauty and the walk along the sea front is a real pleasure. From the pedestrianized city center, you can reach the beach by crossing the superb Jardin Maritime, which runs alongside the sea and contributes to the local quality of life. With its cafes, restaurants, shopping streets, historical monuments, religious buildings and beaches, not to mention its many and varied museums, Varna leaves no respite. It is impossible to get bored!
