Satun is a small town of 22,000 inhabitants, a handful of kilometers from the border with Malaysia. There are still more and better-preserved old Sino-Portuguese houses to be found here. A stroll along the central artery, Burivanith, gives a few glimpses. Some of the buildings date back to the 19th century. Don't forget to visit the National Museum for those interested in the region's diverse culture. On a more practical note, this is the last stop before the border with Malaysia, for those needing to renew their residence permit in Thailand.
